So, I have a question for anyone who is reading this. If your main pastime during the summer months is to get out on the lake and have some fun, what activities do you do during the winter to pas the time and let loose? Fair warning: Don't just say you spend your time winterizing your boat!

Boat Shows

There may not be many in your area, but if you browse the web, you can surely find some that you can attend and get ideas for the next boating season. They may offer tips about winter care for your boat and engine. You may even get a notion to trade in your old boat for a new one. That is the beauty of going to a boat show since you never know what might catch your eye. There is always something new to see or discover. 

Routine Maintenence

Maintenance may not be a "fun" thing to do in most people's minds but is a necessary evil. If you are like my dad, he views anything mechanically like a puzzle to be solved so it's fun to him. I may have picked up my dad's mechanical abilities, but I definitely didn't get his enthusiasm. Even if you don't have the inclination to do it yourself, an engine service or fog can be done at your local dealership, more than likely. Even if you don't know anything about engine work, you can work on cosmetic things on your boat. You can detail your seat, or do a deep clean on any storage units you have onboard. There are always things to do when it comes to taking care of your boat that can be done while you have it put up for the cold months. 

Winter Fishing

In Texas, we are kind of lucky in the fact that we are closer to the equator. This usually means milder winters in comparison to what it can be for northerners. I may go into a much more detailed blog at another time, but there are several good guides to look are into angling and you just need to fish even if it is winter time. Just a cursory search on the internet could provide you with some ideas that may seem like fun.
